My art career began over forty years ago working primarily in the printing industry and advertising agencies. However, Art was a part of my life even when I was a small child in Vienna, Austria. I received my formal training at the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver and furthered my art education by attending countless workshops throughout the years. My first attempts in painting were oils. In later years I moved on to watercolors. Although I am quite adept at realism, abstract paintings are much more exciting for me. Creating things with clay also began early in life when I made figures out of modeling clay for my third grade “show and tell.” I vividly remember making tiny Disney characters. Because that clay was oil based, the figures would slump if they got too warm. Therefore, I stored them in the freezer compartment of our apartment’s refrigerator. The compartment was about the size of a shoe box and I am still amazed that my Mom allowed me to do that. Understandably, when I started Junior High School, Art was one of the subjects I enjoyed the most. In High School my majors were split between Art and Business Education. It was there that I first worked with Ceramic Clay and loved it. Several years ago my love for clay resurfaced. I started with Polymer clay, making jewelry and Nativity sets. About ten years ago I ventured back into the real thing; Ceramic Clay. Just recently I started using Porcelain Clay and carved into it. I am hopelessly addicted now, not only to clay but also the carving process. I draw on a daily basis, not only for my clients but for myself as well. The drawings help me work out some of the designs that I later turn into Ceramic projects.
By visiting my vast website you can see the different mediums I have ventured into. I am forever grateful to a school system that years ago allowed me the opportunity to become an artist instead of pushing me into a slot where I was not comfortable. I may not have achieved great fame or wealth but I feel that I have enriched a lot of people’s lives with my work through illustrations, rubber stamp designs, paintings, sculpture, jewelry and ceramics. My work has sold all over the United States and the World and is in a couple of countries that I didn’t even know existed.
I have had several one artist shows both in Colorado and California, exhibited in many shows with other artists, sold more work than I can recall, have won local awards and even one International one. It has been a GREAT ride so far.
